Safety Procedures
Bascom Hall has several resources available to handle emergencies.
- Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP) PDF Updated 1/22/2026 – This plan outlines building specific emergency procedures for various situations that might occur, such as severe weather or active threats. A copy can be found in Room 100. Contact the Building Manager if you’re interested in attending training or have questions.
- UWPD Safety Resources – This link takes you to UWPD’s website to cover standard procedures for safety, such as information on CPR/AED training, crime prevention tips, inclement weather safety, active threat training, and related topics.
- An Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) machine is located in Bascom Hall on the First Floor in the rotunda, across from the recycling station, near the central elevator

Maintenance Requests
If your maintenance request is building related in nature (broken window, restroom issue, heating/cooling, leaks, etc.), please report your concern to the Building Manager.
If your maintenance request is office specific (hanging pictures, removing whiteboards, moving furniture, etc.), please report your concern to Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M). You will need your customer number to fund the request.
How to Submit Requests with FP&M
- Call 608-263-3333
- Email ppcustomerservice@fpm.wisc.edu
- Submit your request on AssetWorks
Key Requests
If you need keys for your office, check with your department to see if they have a copy. If not, have them submit a key request through FP&M’s AssetWorks key portal.
If you need a building key please reach out to the building Manager.
All departments in the building are responsible for maintaining an accurate key log to include number of keys and current possession.
